Personal Insolvency Practical (PIP) 1
Studying for the PIPs
As for all three PIPs, PIP 1 is a standalone qualification, delivered on our exclusive app, together with materials, questions and case studies. Studying for the qualification takes between 13 and 16 weeks in order to gain formal certification.
There are two exams (of two hours duration; 40% of the marks are allocated to multiple-choice questions and 60% via two practical case studies), both of which must be passed. The exams are sat remotely and submitted to the external examiner.
Uniquely, all three PIPs include 50% behavioural / interpersonal skills training and testing, to reflect not just the essential technical aspect to the role of an advisor, but also the way to develop as a communicator.
PIP 1 is designed for ‘entry level’ members of the team (0 – 18 months in the role). The syllabus is designed to promote an understanding of essential information about different types of debt management solutions (both ‘formal’ and ‘informal’), mortgages, tax returns, benefits, property ownership, banking, basic accounts, vulnerable people, etc …
… with essential interpersonal skills, such as key communication skills, telephone manner, types of questions, listening and conversation management. Positive, useful, practical skills.
During the five webcast sessions, and follow-up exercises, the study programme also introduce delegates to key personal insolvency and debt management information.
To place this qualification into a training context, this qualification would be ‘pre-CPI/CPPI’ and useful for new starters and those with little, if any, experience of the communication with, and handling of, individuals with personal debt.
