Product Snapshot: Aryza Originate – Decision Engine
Aryza Originate’s Decision Engine transforms credit risk assessment with a no-code, fully auditable platform. Designed for credit risk professionals, it replaces manual decision-making with automation, real-time testing, and seamless integration with external data sources.
The Decision Engine of Aryza Originate is a Low-/No-coding platform. What does that mean?
Christian Piller It means no coding or development experience is required—users can manage everything directly within the platform’s interface without scripting or writing code. The system is designed to be user-friendly, making it accessible to non-developers. However, since it is a decision engine, users need a strong understanding of rule-building and decision-making processes. The platform is particularly suited for credit risk professionals and data analysts, as it allows them to create and manage complex decision frameworks for lending decisions and customer assessments. This ensures consistency, transparency, and efficiency. Additionally, the platform supports automatic evaluations of rules and the decisions made, enabling real-time insights and continuous optimization.
What types of credit can the decision engine process?
Christian Piller From consumer credit and mortgage financing to complex project financing—you name it, the Decision Engine supports any type of credit. It is completely agnostic to the type of decision being made. Users can build custom rule sets to evaluate any form of risk, meaning it’s not limited to lending—it can be applied wherever risk assessment and decision-making are required.
How flexible is the Decision Engine when building rules?
Christian Piller Aryza’s Decision Engine offers full flexibility to create rules and decision frameworks. Users can design rule sets that range from straightforward, single-step decisions to highly elaborate processes involving hundreds of decision combinations. This flexibility ensures that the platform can adapt to a wide variety of business needs and decision-making requirements.
Could you elaborate on credit gateway integrations and enhanced and simplified web UI?
Christian Piller Certainly. Credit gateway integrations are a priority for us. This includes linking to credit reference agencies such as Equifax, Experian, and Schufa. Beyond credit data, the platform also supports integrations for bank statement insights, Open Banking capabilities, geospatial and location-based data, asset security checks, and vehicle valuation. As for the enhanced and simplified web UI, development is now complete, delivering a user-friendly and intuitive experience. The interface is designed for ease of use, removing the need for technical expertise. We’ve also introduced a dashboard that provides clear insights into decision performance, along with a powerful search function within rule sets, allowing users to locate specific rules efficiently. By bringing everything into a single platform, decision-making becomes more efficient, scalable, and easier to optimise.
What about simulation capabilities?
Christian Piller That’s a key development area. The platform will support A/B testing and parallel decisioning, allowing organisations to compare rule sets in real time—such as adjusting age criteria—and measure the impact on approvals, arrears, and risk exposure. Companies can test changes at scale, running 90% of applications through existing criteria while 10% follow a modified rule set, generating actionable insights before policy adjustments. The system will also suggest optimisations, like refining rules to boost approvals or flagging high-risk segments that need tighter controls. Additionally, it can incorporate insights from Loan Management or Collections to sharpen credit risk differentiation, improving the ability to distinguish between good and bad credit and ensuring more precise decision-making.
There is a lot of regulatory pressure. How does that tie into FCA regulations such as Consumer Duty or the EU’s Consumer Credit Directive?
Christian Piller Compliance is a key consideration, and the ability to demonstrate a reduction in non-performing loans while ensuring fair treatment of customers is a strong argument for using the platform. One of its major advantages is full auditability—every decision is logged, ensuring consistency, fairness, and regulatory compliance. Unlike spreadsheet-based processes, which make it difficult to track and prove decision logic, Aryza Originate provides a clear audit trail, allowing organisations to verify exactly which rule set was applied at any given time across all loan books.
Implementation of a new lending solution is often a major concern for companies—they worry it will take too long or be too complex, so they stick to their legacy systems. How does that process work in this case?
Christian Piller Implementation is a structured process but not overly complex. We handle everything from installation to configuration, ensuring a smooth transition. Existing customer rules are integrated and refined with our best practices and extensive industry expertise. This approach helps organisations leverage their current frameworks. While not a fully automated setup, we work closely with each customer to tailor the system to their needs. Rules can range from simple criteria to highly complex decision frameworks, depending on the specific use case. Aryza plans to introduce default templates as part of its roadmap, providing predefined frameworks for common scenarios like lending decisions with key checks such as age and creditworthiness. For now, Aryza Decide remains a highly flexible platform, allowing businesses to tailor decision models to their needs.
How does the decision engine integrate into existing systems?
Christian Piller At the moment, most customers have it fully integrated within Originate, where the system calls on the Decision Engine at various points to check factors such as age and credit history. However, the Decision Engine is a standalone service that can be integrated via API—both with Originate and other existing systems—providing flexibility while seamlessly working within the Aryza ecosystem.
